La madera de teca es uno de los materiales más acertados para decorar los exteriores de tu hogar, esto se debe a su alta densidad y su contenido en aceites y ceras naturales. Se componen de una madera resistente y fuerte que hace que duren mucho en el tiempo.

Pero estos muebles de teca no son una excepción, como la mayoría de mobiliario de nuestra casa si no les damos unos cuidados y los limpiamos adecuadamente empezarán a verse deteriorados y en muchas ocasiones tendremos que llegar al punto de cambiarlos. Realizar un cuidado y protección de la madera de Teca que tenemos en el mobiliario del jardín es muy importante ya que, al estar constantemente expuestos, serán mayores los factores que estropeen y perjudiquen la madera. Algunas de las causas principales de deterioro de la madera de teca en exteriores son:

-Paso del tiempo: está causa podemos decir que la tienen todos los muebles, incluso este tipo de madera que se caracteriza por sus materiales resistentes se verá afectada con el paso del tiempo. Realizando un buen tratamiento de la misma podemos conseguir que su vida útil sea mucho más larga.

-Sol: La luz ultravioleta provocada por los rayos del sol afecta a la celulosa de la madera, lo que se traduce en una pérdida del color original. En el caso de la madera de teca tenderá a volverse grisácea. Además, el espectro infrarrojo del sol hace que la madera se reseque y aparezcan grietas.

-Humedad: Aunque la teca sea una de las maderas más resistentes para exteriores por tratarse de un material tropical que viene de un ambiente húmedo, no está exenta de los efectos de la humedad. Si no protegemos bien la madera, cuando se produzca una excesiva humedad puede ser que la madera se expanda y se generen grietas. Además, si no la cuidamos bien pueden aparecer hongos.

El Aceite de Teca Avel está especialmente diseñado para mantener, proteger y decorar la madera de teca tanto de interior como de exterior. Su fórmula se compone de un 30% de aceite de linaza y un 30% de aceite de madera China, aceite natural que se consigue presionando las semillas del fruto. Es una fórmula que impregna muy bien en la madera, esto evita el oscurecimiento de las maderas no protegidas que suele provocarse con el paso del tiempo. Esta composición hace que la madera se nutra, respire y este protegida contra las manchas y el agua.

Su uso principal es para utilizar en exteriores, aunque puede utilizarse también en muebles de interior o incluso en otros muebles que no sean de teca. Algunas de las características principales del aceite de teca son:

-Su aplicación es rápida y sencilla. Los materiales necesarios son muy pocos y el tiempo de duración también.

Vamos manos a la obra, si has llegado hasta aquí seguro que ya estás en tu terraza con el aceite de teca listo para aplicar en tus muebles. Antes de decirte como aplicar el aceite de teca sobre los muebles vamos a darte una serie de trucos previos en función de cómo se encuentre tu madera.

1.Lo primero de todo antes de empezar a aplicar el aceite de teca es asegurarnos que la superficie se encuentra limpia de posible suciedad o restos de acabados aplicados con anterioridad.

2. Si la madera sobre la que vamos a utilizar el aceite de teca este barnizada o pintada con anterioridad, será importante que se eliminen si queremos conseguir un buen resultado. Para ello podemos utilizar un papel de lija suave en caso de ser una pequeña capa, una lija de grano medio o incluso decapantes.

3. Una vez hayamos lijado la superficie o en el caso de no necesitar lijarla, deberemos lavarla con agua y jabón neutro y esperar a que la madera este completamente seca.

1. Remover el aceite de teca

2. Aplicar regularmente echando el producto en Mecha de algodón o una brocha de cerdas suaves en caso de que la superficie sea pequeña.

3. Dejar que el producto se impregne en la madera durante 5 minutos.

4. Enjuagar la superficie tratada con una gamuza absorbente sin pelusa. Con esto conseguiremos igualar la aplicación y quitar los excesos de aceite en zonas más densas, donde la madera tenga más porosidad.

5. Esperar a que todo el proceso de aplicación del aceite de teca se seque durante 24 horas.

Por último, resolvemos una de las preguntas que si has llegado hasta este punto te harás, ¿cada cuanto utilizo el aceite de teca? Lo recomendable es que lo apliques en primavera y otoño, cuando las temperaturas y el grado de humedad son moderados.

No obstante, la periocidad también dependerá de lo expuesta que se encuentre la madera. No será lo mismo si el mueble se encuentra en el exterior, pero en una zona templada a que este completamente expuesto cerca del mar.
